Czech Delegation Visits Karaganda Region
The Akim of the Karaganda Region, Ermaganbet Bulekpaev, met with Jan Bartošek, the Vice-Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. The parties discussed expanding economic and cultural cooperation, as well as issues regarding the preservation of historical memory.
The Czech delegation arrived in the region on an official visit. During the meeting, opportunities for interaction in industry, logistics, education, and the humanitarian sphere were discussed.
"The Karaganda region is a major industrial hub of our country. We lead the republic in terms of the volume of the manufacturing industry, exporting our products to more than 50 countries today. However, the trade turnover with the Czech Republic is not yet significant. There is great potential in this direction, and we are ready to realize it together," Ermaganbet Bulekpaev told the delegation members.
The regional head emphasized the geostrategic location of the Karaganda region: as a major transit hub between Asia and Europe, the province offers broad opportunities for logistical partnerships.
In turn, the head of the Czech delegation, Jan Bartošek, expressed interest in deepening bilateral ties. According to him, specific points of cooperation already exist, one of which is the field of education. Today, more than three thousand Kazakhstani students are studying in the Czech Republic.
"The main goal of our visit, along with increasing economic ties, is to restore historical justice. We are studying the fates of Czech citizens who were taken prisoner during World War I and held in camps within the Karaganda region. It is our duty to identify their burial sites and pay tribute to our historical memory," said Jan Bartošek. "At the same time, we are ready to support Kazakhstan in searching for information about soldiers who died on Czech soil."
At the conclusion of the meeting, Ermaganbet Bulekpaev noted that the region is always open to international partnerships.
"We are ready to provide all necessary support in preserving historical memory. Furthermore, the Karaganda region is interested in expanding economic and humanitarian cooperation," he concluded.
