The tourism industry is actively developing in the Karaganda region: in six months, about 200,000 tourists visited the region, the volume of investments in the sector reached 19 billion tenge, and by the end of the year, it is planned to bring this figure to 23 billion. This was announced by the Akim of the region, Yermaganbet Bulekpaev, at a briefing in the Central Communications Service under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Tourism makes a significant contribution to the development of the service sector in the Karaganda region. According to Yermaganbet Bulekpaev, the implementation of the President's instructions gave impetus to the development of the industry. In Balkhash, through the instruments of the social-entrepreneurial corporation, investors were provided with two land plots for the construction of a sanatorium and a hotel. Work has begun on creating a tourism industrial zone, where a land plot has already been identified for the placement of investment projects. A concept is being developed, a road has been laid, and connections to electricity and water supplies have been provided. The completion of the reconstruction of the Karaganda – Balkhash highway has significantly increased the transport accessibility of the city and makes the future industrial zone even more attractive to investors. In the near future, the reconstruction of the Balkhash airport will be completed — its capacity will increase to 80 passengers per hour, which will allow for the expansion of the flight geography. In addition to Balkhash, Karkaralinsk is an important destination for tourism. In the Bugyly recreational zone, on a territory of 75 hectares, a modern tourist complex is being built, and work is underway to provide engineering communications. In Karaganda, the VISIT QARAGANDA tourist information center has begun its work, which is engaged in promoting the region in the domestic and international tourism markets. "In total, the volume of investment in the regional tourism industry amounted to 19 billion tenge, which is 10.9% more than last year. The number of new accommodation and recreation facilities increased by 13.1% and reached 277 units. The number of tourists also grew by 29.2% — about 200,000 people visited the region in six months," emphasized Yermaganbet Bulekpaev.
